Who Will Win Wimbledon 2008?

Roger Federer won Wimbledon 2007 against Rafael Nadal

Wimbledon 2008 (aka SW19) serves off today with Roger Federer, the reigning champ, taking on Dominik Hrbaty. Federer is undefeated at Wimbledon since 2002 but his form has wavered a little this season. So who else is in with a chance?

Rafael Nadal

Will Rafael Nadal win Wimbledon?

After claiming his fourth French Open title against Federer, Nadal has nothing to prove that he is the master on clay. But it was his win in the Stella Artois tournament against brilliant grass players such as Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic that have prompted many pundits to put their predictions on the Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic Has A Chance at Wimbledon 2008

Always being the third-best of late, Novak has a point to prove by taking the Wimbledon crown. The thorn in Federer’s and Nadal’s side, Djokovic will be sure to cause an upset or two at Wimbledon and is in with an outside chance of nabbing the title.

Andy Murray

Andy Murray could reach the final stages

Murray has to come here because even though he is only (likely) in with a very slim chance, he is the British competitor and therefore we have to build him up. Murray is likely to reach a quarter-final or semi-final and will have done extremely well to finish runner-up.

Andy Roddick

Does Andy Roddick have enough?

The master of the powerful serve. If you don’t watch anything else at Wimbledon this year, watch Andy Roddick’s serve. It is literally unbelievable. Andy Roddick has been beaten in the final of Wimbledon twice against Federer and may not have enough in his lock to make any changes to the trend this year.

The Rest

Lleyton Hewitt, Gael Monfils, Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer, Marcos Baghdatis, David Nalbandian and Nikolay Davydenko are all seeded players who are more than capable of causing an upset in this tournament.

As For The Women

Venus Williams is the holder of the tournament but she will face strong opposition from the likes of Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic, sibling Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic. The womens tournament is a lot more open than the mens and could go anyway.
