"What Lurks Beneath The Bed?" - Siren Blood Curse on Playstation 3.
Oh noes - Sammy is talking about Siren: Blood Curse again. Yes, mainly because I’ve waited for this game for ages and it really is decent fun from what I experienced so far. I was a bit gutted with the first two episodes being so agonisingly short but the third episode was excellent. Given that I downloaded the full game in one block I’m not sure how things would pan out if I bought them seperately but I think I would have just blasted my way through the first £6.99 portion of the game.
Is it worth it? Yes and no. While I fully expect that the first two “episodes” are training episodes they were disappointingly short. The third however was a brilliant mix of stealth and action. It genuinely made me jump in a few places. I’m not particularly hard to scare but I still like to give myself the respect that I’m not a complete wimp but there were elements in the first couple of hours of the game that freaked me a little bit.
The graphics aren’t perfect but suffice and the grain filter put over the action gives a really uncomfortable feel. This isn’t an easy game to play by design. The controls are slightly clunky and the camera very quick and jiggly. It’s nauseating but adds to the effect.
The first 3 episodes took about 2 hours to complete (given the short nature of the first two chapters) so I’m hoping the rest of the game pans out at a good 12 hours or so in total. I think that would make it more than worth it’s £20 asking price.
Expect a review soon.

Some other stuff I wrote about the game on GiantBomb:
Ok guys I just got done with the first three episodes of Siren Blood Curse. All I can say is: slightly more awesome than you probably think. Sadly the first two episodes were more “training” and pretty short but I’m presuming the game as a whole will pan out differently because Episode 3 was particularly long.
First, the graphics are pretty solid. They’re not (obviously) MGS4 or GTA4 standard, they’re not even close, but the whole game has a pretty uneasy feel to it and some graphical imperfections only add to the effect. Theres a grain filter over the entire screen all the way through and later into the game you’ll encounter a lot of blurring and some decent visual effects. I’m totally used to the camera now but it will hinder some people. It might be considered an excuse but I think the clunkiness of the game kinda adds to the effect. The camera swings, blurs and bumbles all over the place at times only adding further to the frantic nature of the game.
So far the story is ok. Voice acting is decent and the story it’s telling is a little cliche but enough to hold your attention. I’ve been put in some pretty big environments this early in the game which has given me some decent expectations of what’s going to come later on and there is potential for awesome.
Some of the presentation is very well done - there is some real life footage and photography hidden in the game which is pretty cool and by the looks of things there will be reasons to replay because there are documents hidden throughout the levels. The AI is pretty sweet too - zombies can hear your footsteps, see your flash light etc.
All in all I’d say so far so good. The only disappointing thing like I’ve said is the first two episodes being so short but given it took me around 2 hours to complete the first 3 episodes - I’d hope the whole game lasted a good 12 hours. I’ll let you know when I beat it if it does - but I’d say £19.99 for a 12 hour game is pretty decent.
It’s not without it’s flaws and some people might not get into it but so far this game has impressed me given it’s price point.

Oh my - how awesome. In the game I unlocked one of the characters student ID’s which had a website addy on it. Being an idiot I typed it into my computer expecting to find nothing but was greeted with a blog giving loads of character background.
