You Want Him Killed Off? Wha-!?

So I was reading up on Kotaku.com today about Resident Evil 5 characters amongst other things. The news was that a new character (big-boobed Excella Gionne) has been confirmed alongside old character, Albert Wesker. Cue tons of comments (by tons I mean 2) pouring in about how “Capcom are incapable of killing characters off, blah blah, blah, RE is shit, I like cheese” etc.

My response was a simple one - a Resident Evil without Wesker would be like Sonic without Eggman or Mario without Bowser. Heck, even Zelda without Ganon. Heck it would just be plain wrong.

Anyway the simple fact is, Resident Evil needs Wesker and here is why:

• Bad ass: Look at him. This is a dude that looks like he would and will kick your ass. From the menacing shades, the slick backed blonde hair and the bulging biceps Wesker is obviously not short on the physical side. Nor is he short on the mental side either, regularly outwitting his S.T.A.R.S counterparts while he pumps some more iron. Wesker may be a stereotypical bad guy (see Malfoy) but who really cares?
• The voice: To be honest I don’t fully understand the Resident Evil story like a full on geek but here’s this dude who has some hand in the creation of the T-virus, or wants it, or whatever. Then you listen to his voice and you realise he is a sound-a-like for Kenneth Williams. When you throw all the zombie stuff out of the window he’d still scare me with that voice.
• The fact that most of the time you see him he’s dead: Nothing scares me more than dudes that are dead but function like dudes that aren’t dead. Gee-whiz. And there are more games that you see a “dead” Wesker than games where you see an “alive” Wesker.

Seriously though Albert Wesker is one of my favourite characters in the Resident Evil series (Jill, Leon and the Merchant being my other favourites). Why would anyone want to see him killed off? Seriously. He has so much story to tell. I’m waiting for a game where we get to properly control him. I loved Umbrella Chronicles but I want a full third person-shooter based on Weskers life during Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3. That way we’d totally get to revisit the mansion too.

In HD? Hell yeah.

You know how I said Pop Levi’s “Semi Babe” video was literally the best thing ever in terms of Youtube amazingness? Well, it was. But now it might have been beaten…

… by an AMAZING (in caps) video from Nintendo for upcoming Wario Land: Shake Dimension which actually looks pretty darn good.

I would embed the video but for reasons that will become clear when you watch it, I can’t.

Very well done Nintendo.

What does that mean I hear you scream? Basically because I have a mega crazy two weeks coming up (and you probably all do too to be fair) I need to make sure the content still comes to the site without actually being around to write it. So I come up with some really shitty ideas of stuff I can write now that will appear on the site when I set it to appear. Which might be in a weeks time, it might be in two weeks time.

Obviously I’m so busy because I’m finally getting ready to fly the nest and go to uni so there’s a mix of excitement and nervousness involved. But mostly there is preperation required - I’m determined to be ready this year. So anyway enough about myself, what can you expect?

• Game previews. I’mma be looking at the Christmas releases that I won’t be able to afford.
• I’ve been dying to share my top 10 favourite songs ever so I’mma do a countdown for that too.

Pjanoo By Eric Prydz Has A Shit Cover

You may have recently heard Eric Prydz’s “awesome” new single Pjanoo which is currently lying number 2 on the iTunes charts. And if you have heard it you may have possibly seen the “record sleeve” on iTunes. It’s basically very, very shit.

The record industry is in a state of change you see — less and less people are going into shops and actually buying real music. Which means covers are less important from the days you’d buy something just because you liked the artwork.

Which means we get shit like this. And yes, the song is really repetitive isn’t it?

Mmm Sexy Graphics.

= very good. More details to come when I’ve actually had chance to play the game. To settle your pants check out the EuroGamer review where they said it was basically very good but was a little short and not very fresh.

It’d be unfair of me to comment on that because I haven’t played the game yet (it’s downloading now) and they obviously had but I felt they are being a bit harsh given the title is essentially fan-fodder between the last release and the next one. It’s only £10 so you can be rest assured if it lasts me 4 or 5 hours I’ll be happy.

Is Soul Calibur IV A Bit Pervey?

Haha this is a hilarious one: I’m hearing people talk about Soul Calibur IV as if it’s a little uncomfortable to play. On the GiantBomb.com podcast yesterday Ryan Davis described playing the game as “uncomfortable” and not because of it’s gameplay (which he stated “it plays like Soul Calibur should”). Ryan was of course referring to the outlandish characters and their scale on the perve-o-meter. Given that I’ve always considered Soul Calibur a pervey game I haven’t thought much of it. Until now.

So decide for yourselves, based on the following female characters that are present in the game, is Soul Calibur IV a bit pervey?

There were tons more characters I could have put here. Look, I’m not going to pass judgement, all I’m going to say is that the artwork is fucking good - pervey or not.

While watching “22 Short Stories Of Springfield” the other day, I realised something that was subliminally depicted in the episode that is true to real life.

Every person you pass in the street has a story to tell.

It might sound like I’m stating the obvious here but it’s something that I feel might not dawn on you unless you really think about it. I mean, have you ever really considered that the person on the other side of the street has family stories, love stories, sad stories, happy stories, opinions, etc. I never have until now to be honest.

It’s quite interesting really and it all links back to something that a Wise Old Man once told me: “Your purpose is nothing more than to be special to a select few”,

In other words: you might well mean fuck all to the person passing you on the other side of the street but to your family and friends you mean the world.

I think that’s a cute way of looking at things.
