"Braaaains!" - Siren Blood Curse on Playstation 3
I’m not quite sure why it didn’t occur to me before that Siren Blood Curse would take virtually a day to download. I was just considering: technology, complete HD games, won’t take long to download right? Wrong — the full game which has just launched on the Playstation Store is 9GB’s in size and that means lots of downloading and installing.
Because I’m at the height of cool I’m going to challenge the fact that games won’t be available as simple downloads for a good while yet! I started the downloaded at 12:24 and I’m going to update this post with the time at which all the games are downloaded and installed on my hard drive. God, this is going to be exciting isn’t it?
Needless to say I’m a bit impatient because I’ve been waiting for this game forever. I’m sure it will be worth it though.
Update @ 18:59: It’s done, it’s downloaded and it’s installed on my hard drive. A whole 6 hours and 35 minutes later. Let us do the simple maths to find out if the future of gaming really does lie in downloadable games:
Q: It takes Pashtir 14 minutes to walk from home to his local GAME store and 2 minutes to purchase a video game inside. In 6 hours 35 minutes how many times could Pashtir walk to GAME, purchase an item and walk home again?
A: Pashtir could have gone to GAME, bought an item and walked home again a total of 13 times and would still have 5 minutes spare to get a can of Pepsi from the fridge.
So is the future of games in downloads? The answer is: not yet.
